2007/08 Programme

In line with the above, it was agreed that for 2007/08, the offer of awards would comprise:

• One/two Post Graduate Scholarships for study at a New Zealand University, desirably linked to the AgResearch research programme
• One Undergraduate Scholarship for study in an approved international university programme in textile science and technology

No offer of a Post Doctoral Fellowship was made in 2007/08 in view of two such awards having been made in the previous year.

Two Post graduate Scholarships were awarded and a grant was made to assist an Honours student in meeting wool testing costs associated with her research project. For the third year in a row, no applications were received for the Undergraduate Scholarship.

Marketing for 2007/08

The programme was again widely marketed within New Zealand and internationally including advertisements in science and textile publications, placing on websites and advice was provided to wool industry organisations. Also all New Zealand Universities were advised of the Post Graduate and Post Doctoral opportunities and secondary schools were advised of the Undergraduate Scholarship opportunity. The promotional brochure was updated and widely distributed at venues targeted at students.
