Research Funding
Industry Good Funding Priorities
Wool Research, in collaboration with the Wool Industry Network, is developing and
refining its strategy, with a view to closer alignment between the industry’s needs,
as identified in the WIN strategy document, and Wool Research’s funding priorities.
The emphasis of Wool Research funding within this strategy is upon fundamental and
enabling science, and in growing New Zealand wool’s market share. Wool Research
anticipates its funding will be directed primarily to:
- Fundamental research that improves knowledge of the properties of the wool fibre
and which sustains a knowledge platform for the developments of new processes or
products that improve the appeal of New Zealand wool to its processors and consumers.
- Improving the appeal of New Zealand wool and wool products to manufacturers and
consumers.
- Developing programmes which facilitate the transfer and uptake of scientific and
technical knowledge and which leverage commercial benefits from the intellectual
property and other assets of Wool Research in both existing and emerging markets.
- Underpinning the education and human capital development required to ensure skilled
people are available to progress the industry.
